Frequently Asked Questions

How much sod do I need?

To figure the amount of sod you need, measure the length and width of the area you want to cover. Multiply the length in feet by the width in feet, and that will give you the amount of sod , in square feet, that you need.

How much does it weigh?

Each pallet weighs 1500- 2000 Ibs, depending on the moisture content.

Can I pick up at your store?

Sure. We're open 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday-Friday and 8:00 AM - 12:00 on Saturday. Just let us know what you want at least 24 hours in advance, and we' ll have it ready for you.

How long can my sod sit on the pallet once I get it?

Sod should be laid immediately and watered as it is being installed.

There you can see which sods are shade tolerant and which aren't, which are the easiest or hardest to maintain, along with other information that will help pick the sod that's best for you. If you still can't decide, just call us and we'll help you make the right choice.

How can I ensure that my sod Is successful?

First and foremost, you need to water it properly. Please visit our maintenance page, to get all the watering tips you need. When mowing, you should not remove more than one- third of the blade at one time . It is the leaf that draws in the sun to help it grow and if you cut too much, it can turn brown and die.

Below are the correct mowing heights for your lawn:

Bermuda: 0.5 to 1.5 inches

Centipede: I to 1.5 inches

Fescue: 23 /4 to 31 / 2 inches

Zoysia: 0.5 to 1.5 inches

Allsouth Sod Depot provides genetically superior sods to our clients. This means that they are more disease tolerant; some are more drought tolerant.
